Update on VIU Auto Service: Pamela's car

The situation with our car which I blogged about a couple of days ago appears to be getting sorted out.

Pamela talked yesterday with Gary Doolin, an instructor in the auto service training department at VIU who has been taking care of matters for the university, and Fred Macdonald, Dean of Trades and Applied Technology. They were very helpful, courteous and open with information. Pamela was offered the department's Toyota Prius hybrid as a loaner for a few days while issues of insurance and so forth are sorted out.

Apparently what happened was that the students were road testing the car, driving along Nanaimo Lakes road. They hit an icy patch and slid towards a 10-14 ft ditch.  The car rolled  onto its roof. Fortunately there were only very minor injuries, and a passer-by was there to help them out and drive them back to the school. Pamela had a look at the car yesterday - the roof and hood are crumpled, the windshield is crushed, and the passenger door window is shattered - it looks like it will be a write-off.

We've been impressed with the kind, helpful and professional way in which everyone has responded to this unfortunate accident.
